The Installation of Worshipful Brother David Cooke as the new Worshipful Master of his Mother Lodge marked a significant milestone in the life of the Lodge of Discoveries nº 9409 (UGLE). It brought Brethren together in a spirit of fraternity, continuity, and shared purpose. The ceremony, conducted with the dignity and solemnity that characterize Masonic tradition, celebrated both the completion of one year of service and the beginning of another chapter under new leadership. It served as a reminder that the strength of the Craft lies in its enduring principles and the willingness of each generation to uphold them.
The proceedings followed the time-honoured ritual of Installation, during which the incoming Worshipful Master accepted the responsibilities of presiding over the Lodge and safeguarding its customs and values. Surrounded by the Officers and Brethren, he received the distinguishing insignia of his office, symbolizing the trust placed in him to lead with wisdom, justice, and integrity. The ceremony reflected the importance of preserving Masonic traditions while embracing the opportunities that accompany renewed leadership.
The presence of visiting Brethren from England and Portuguese Lodges together with distinguished guests further enriched the celebration. Thus, reinforcing the close ties that unite Lodges across the wider Masonic family. Their participation reflected the universal principles of friendship, respect, and mutual support that transcend individual Lodges and jurisdictions.
The Installation became not only a ceremonial transition of Office but also a celebration of the unity and fellowship that define Freemasonry.

Following the Installation of the new Worshipful Master of Lodge of Discoveries nº 9409, the Brethren gathered for an excellent Festive Board which was enjoyed by all present. Excellent food, convivial conversation, and the traditional Masonic toasts created an atmosphere of true Brotherly Love and Fellowship. The evening was further enriched by the presence of visiting Brethren, whose participation added to the warmth and spirit of the occasion. Their attendance demonstrated once again the strong fraternal connections that exist between Lodges and Brethren, and their contributions to the evening were greatly appreciated. The highlight was a speech by the Worshipful Master, Brother David Cooke, about how and when he joined Freemasonry and the deep meaning it has for him.
