Beverley Ellison, wife of Phil Egginton (✟), Discoveries Lodge nº 9409 Past Worshipful Master, presented a cheque for €850 to Nandi Charity, representing part of the funds raised for charity during Phil’s year as Worshipful Master. The donation was formally handed over to Nandi President, Joshua Braun.
“Nandi” means “black and beautiful” in Zulu. The charity was founded in 1996 by John and Doreen Piteleen, who were concerned about the growing number of stray dogs and cats in the Algarve. They created the organisation to support sterilisation programmes, veterinary treatment, and animal food supplies. The charity was named after their beautiful black dog, Nandi, who had originally come to them as a stray.
