The April meeting of Prince Henry the Navigator Lodge nº 9360 was preceded, in the same Lodge room in the Real Marina Hotel in Olhão, by the Installation meeting of Britannia Masters Lodge nº 9575.
Britannia Masters is an Installed Masters Lodge, meeting three times a year at each of the three venues of the other Lodges in the Portugal Group.
Both meetings saw visitors from the Grand Lodges of Portugal and Norway, the Grand Orient of the Netherlands, together with UGLE visitors from the UK (Yorkshire West Ridings and Leics & Rutland) and the UGLE District of Trinidad and Tobago.
Britannia Masters saw W Bro Fernando Messias installed as WM for the forthcoming year.
Next, Prince Henry the Navigator gave a demonstration of opening and closing the Lodge in all three degrees with demonstrations of various parts of the ritual in each degree. Many of these were conducted by the more junior members and executed professionally.
Thirty five members dining at the subsequent Festive Board saw the hotel experiment with a larger dining room within their banqueting complex. It remained their usual high-quality offering, enjoyed by all. So much so, that we may try and make this our default position!
